Travel Advice WHERE IS GARDOUSSEL RETREAT? Gardoussel Retreat is situated about 85 km North West of Nîmes and 55 km West of Alès (not to be confused with Arles ('arl') which is in the same department!) It is a small, self-contained hamlet 1 km from the village of St Andre de Valborgne in the Gard department, which makes up part of the Languedoc region. HOW TO GET HERE There are various ways to get to Gardoussel. fastest, simplest option is to fly to Nimes from Stansted or Luton (just outside London), or Liverpool, then share a taxi or travel up by bus (see below). Eurostar runs a train service from London or Paris to Avignon or Nîmes; you can then take a bus to St Jean du Gard. We can help to organise taxi shares and are happy to collect you from the village of St Andre de Valborgne and bring you to Gardoussel. BUSES Buses run from Nîmes and Alès to St Jean du Gard. Occasional buses continue right through to St Andre de Valborgne. We can organise a taxi for you from St Jean du Gard to Gardoussel (enquire for prices). Click here for the bus timetables:- http://www.edgard-transport.fr/ FLIGHTS Our closest international airport is Nîmes (served by Ryanair) followed by Montpellier (Ryanair and British Airways) and then Marseilles (Buzz and British Airways, among others). HIRE CARS All our local airports have hire car depots. Montpellier and Nîmes are each about 1hr 30 mins from Gardoussel, Marseilles is at 2-and-a-half hours, Lyon 5+ and Paris 6-7 hours. Having a car is useful as it allows you to explore the local area further afield in your free time. If you are coming in a group, it is also a cost-viable alternative to a shared taxi, since the cost of hiring a vehicle can be about the same as the cost of the taxi runs.
